This essay explores stone as a material, a technique, and a design system, as well as a cultural backdrop developed as a joint design studio exercise that involved students and researchers of the RWTH Aachen University and the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. It aims to provides insights on a possible methodological framework for design-build experiences and further collaborative intercultural exchanges related to stone design and manufacturing.
